The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials, work experience, and personalities.


Jerald A. Bryant, D.D.S.

Dr. Bryant grew up on a dairy farm in Cookeville. He graduated from Cookeville High School in 1991. After Attending the University of Memphis and TN Technological University, he attended dental school at The University of Tennessee in Memphis. He graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2001 and moved back to Cookeville to begin his practice.

It is Dr. Bryant’s desire to stay on the cutting edge of Dentistry. With that goal in mind, he strives to exceed the continuing education requirements required each year by his profession and encourages his staff to do the same. He has completed a year long class on Implantology at the Medical College of Georgia. In 2010 Dr. Bryant became an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. (AAID) This is a very elite group. There are only 20 dentist in Tennessee who have met the qualifications to be considered for this honor. He continues to work toward a full Fellowship in the AAID.

Dr. Bryant is an active member in many professional organizations, including The American Dental Association, The Tennessee Dental Association.  He is an Associate Fellow of The American Academy of Implant Dentistry(AAID). Dr. Bryant is also working towards his Masters in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).  This means that he must complete 1100 hrs of training in many different dental areas.  Dr. Bryant is currently serving as the President of the 4th District Dental Society (TN).

In 2011, Dr. Bryant was one of 5 nominees for the Tennessee AGD Dentist of the Year. This honor was based on his high level of academic achievement, and his committment to his community.

Dr. Bryant, his wife, Tonya, and their two sons, and  two daughters are happy to call Cookeville home. They are active members of the community and church.

Joseph Blalock, DMD


Dr. Blalock grew up on his family's beef cattle farm in Crossville, TN. After graduating high school, he enrolled in Tennessee Tech. While attending TTU, he had the opportunity to develop a great friendship with Dr. Bryant and the rest of the team at Maple Leaf Dentistry.

Dr. Blalock graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Tech with a bachelor's degree in Health Science Biology. He attended dental school at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and graduated with distinction. 

Dr. Blalock's goal is to provide the most up to date care for his patients, He has a passion for continuing his education, especially in implant and cosmetic dentistry. He is an active me member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. 

Dr. Blalock is the Co-Host of The Life and Dentistry Podcast, A podcast that focuses on encouraging and educating other dentists. This is a weekly show where dentists from over 30 countries tune in to listen.

Dr. Blalock is married to his lovely wife Kayla. He recently became a father to his son Brody. He loves spending time with his friends and family and still enjoys working on his family's farm in Crossville. 




Walter Chittwood, Jr., DDS



Dr. Walter Chitwood was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in 1978 and of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1982. His postgraduate training includes implant externships at the Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Rehabilitation in Clearwater, FL and the Misch International Implant Institute in Dearborn, MI.

Dr. Chitwood is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is a Fellow of several organizations including the American Society of Osseointegration, the Academy of Dentistry International, and the Academy of Implants and Transplants. He is an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and has recently been inducted as a Fellow into the International College of Dentists.

In addition to his private dental practice, he holds several teaching appointments, including the Assistant Professor- University of Tennessee College Dentistry (Dept. of Prosthodontics), and being a faculty member of the AAID MaxiCourses of Oregon and Rutgers University College of Dentistry.

Dr. Chitwood also speaks routinely at meetings on the state, national and international level. He lectures extensively on treatment planning, aseptic preparation technique, and all surgical aspects for implant dentistry both to doctors and staff members.

Dr. Chitwood has also held many offices in his career. He is a Past President of the American Board of Oral Implantology, Treasurer of the Southern District of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and is on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Academy of General Dentistry. He has also been selected as an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Oral Implantology, the official publication of the AAID.

Dr. Chitwood resides in Murfreesboro, TN with his wife Denise. They have three children, Carleigh Dunbar (husband Daniel), Mary Ansley, and Walt III.

Michelle B. Alley, RDH, BS

Michelle has been on our staff for over 15 years. She graduated from Pickett County High School and then attended TN Technological University for Pre-Dental Hygiene. In 1997 she received her Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from TN State University and then furthered her degree by earning her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2000. Michelle is also certified in the administering and monitoring of nitrous oxide.

Michelle stays up to date in her profession by taking continuing education courses each year. She also participates in professional associations such as The 6th District TDHA and the ADHA, where she served as the president and as a trustee for two years.

Michelle lives in Cookeville with her husband and two sons.


Miki Hopkins, BS, RDH

Miki Hopkins, BS, RDH

Miki is a native of Cookeville. She graduated from TN Technological University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and Nutrition. In 2004 she graduated from Western Kentucky University with her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene and joined our staff. Miki is also certified in the administration and monitoring of nitrous oxide.Miki and her husband live in Cookeville, with their two children. They attend The River Community Church.


Jamie Kinnaird, RDH

Jamie is a native of Cookeville. She attended TN Technological University for Pre-Dental Hygiene, and then completed her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene at Chattanooga State Technical Community College. Jamie has worked as a hygienist since graduating in 2003, and joined our staff in 2006. Jamie is also certified in the administration and monitoring of nitrous oxide.

Jaime is happy to practice her chosen profession in her home town. She continues her professional development by attending continuing education classes each year.

Jamie lives with her husband and son and daughter in Cookeville. They attend Collegeside Church of Christ.


Kim Burris, RDH

Kim is a native of the Upper Cumberland and has been a dental hygienist in the Cookeville area for 20 years. Kim attended Tennessee Tech for 2 years to complete her prerequisites for hygiene school.  She then attended Tennesse State University and graduated with her degree in Dental Hygiene in 1997. Kim joined Maple Leaf in 2015.  She takes classes each year to stay up to date with the dental field and attends the 6th District TDHA professional meetings.

Kim lives in Jackson County with her husband and 2 children. She attends Zion Church of Christ and loves to be involved in her kids' activities.

Chenae Simmons, RDH

Chenae is a native of Sparta, TN where she currently resides. She completed her pre-dental hygiene prerequisites at Motlow Community College in McMinnville during 2013-2015. She was accepted into Remington College School of Dental Hygiene’s program in July of 2015 and graduated with her associates in July of 2018.

Each year, she attends continuing education courses which enables her to keep her education up to date and furthered.   She is a current member of the ADHA. She is licensed in administering and monitoring of Nitrous Oxide, Local Anesthesia, and Laser Treatment therapy. She became licensed in the fall of 2018 as a RDH and began her career here at Maple Leaf in January of 2019.She enjoys educating her patients on good oral hygiene while developing a close relationship with each patient. She has always had a passion for teeth.

During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. Listening to country music, fishing and photography, are some of her favorite hobbies. She attends Sparta Church of the Nazarene.

Sharon A. Smith, RDA

Sharon has been a Registered Dental Assistant since 1999 when she completed her training at TN Technology Center in Livingston. Sharon joined our office in 2002. She has also received expanded certifications in coronal polishing, nitrous oxide monitoring, and sealant application. She has also received special training in the design and manufacture of Cerec crowns.  In 2013, Sharon attended special training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, over a three month period, to earn her Expanded Functions Dental Assistant license.  This license allows her to place fillings.

Each year, Sharon completes a series of continuing education classes to stay up to date in the dental field. She is a member of the ADAA, a professional association for assistants.

Sharon and her husband live in Jackson County. They have two married daughters and four grandchildren.


Anca Sexton, RDA

Anca Sexton, EFDA

Anca is a native of Romania where she studied computer programming. She served as an interpreter for mission trips in Romania before coming to the United States, and speaks several languages.  Anca started her dental career working in our insurance and billing office, and is our office coordinator today.

Anca received her assisting education at TN State Tech in Livingston and became registered in 2007. She has continued her education by studying to receive expanded duties certifications in sealant application and nitrous oxide monitoring.  In 2013, Anca attended special training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, over a three month period, to earn her Expanded Functions Dental Assistant license.  This license allows her to place fillings.  Anca has worked as an expanded functions assistant (EFDA) in our office, and continues to do so as needed.

Anca, her husband and two daughters live in Cookeville and attend The River Church.



Heather Moore, RDA

Heather was born and raised in Cookeville, TN. She joined Maple Leaf on June 4, 2018. She completed her degree as an RDA at the Dental Learning Center in Cookeville in May 2018. She is Certified to monitor nitrous oxide and is eligible to take radiographs on patients. She has been practicing for 8 months and currently attends continuing education to further her education and stay up to date.

She married her husband on November 11, 2017 and they currently reside here in Cookeville. She enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and running. She is also certified in group exercise training and spends a good amount of time at the gym.  She currently attends Willow Avenue Church of Christ and loves to spend time with her family.




Tiffney Dillon, RDA

Tiffney is a local from Rickman, Tn. She currently is a resident of Cookeville. She became a part of Maple Leaf in October of 2017 when she began her career.  She attended Genesis Career College for dental assisting and graduated in August of 2017.  She is qualified to monitor Nitrous Oxide and capture radiographs. Each year she attends continuing education courses to further her education and stay up to date to provide her patients with exceptional care.

Tiffney is a joy to be around. She enjoys telling jokes and lightening up the atmosphere. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, traveling, cooking/baking, playing board games, and celebrating her favorite holiday, Christmas. She also attends Algood First Freewill Baptist Church.

Shea Harris, RDA

Shea joined our team in Decemeber of 2018. She attended Motlow State Community College where she recieved her Associates of Science in the Spring of 2018 followed by completion of the Dental Assistanting Learning prgram at John's Denistry. She graduated as an RDA in October 2018 and plans to further her dental assisting career. Shea completes a series of continuing education classes to stay up to date in the dental field each year. 

She is a current resident of Sparta and is currently engaged and plans to have future children. She plans to become a resident of Cookeville during the fall of 2019. She enjoys going to the lake and playing tenis during her off time. 




Tonya Bryant, BS

Tonya serves as our practice administrator. She graduated from TN Technological University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.  She has also received special training in dental practice management and in meeting OSHA and HIPAA standards. While Dr. Bryant was in school, she worked as a laboraroy analyst and as a high school anatomy teacher.  Tonya has worked in the dental field since 2001. Each year, Tonya attends continuing education classes to further her knowledge of the dental field.

Tonya is happy to be able to work with her husband, Dr. Bryant.

Holly Moser


Holly joined Maple Leaf in August of 2018 and became our Patient Care Coordinator. She is our communications coordinator and works with referrals both in and out of the office. She is super enthusiastic about patients keeping their hygiene up to date by calling and reminding them when they are due/overdue for an appointment. She highly seeks after patients needs.

Holly is a native of West Tennessee and later moved to middle Tennessee where she currently resides here in Cookeville. She enjoys interior decorating and reading during her spare time. She is a mother to three children and a grandmother to 4 grandchildren. She also attends Stevens Street Baptist Church.
